In recently concluded #Haryana elections, most #ExitPolls shown thumping victory for #Congress party, citing 10 years of anti-incumbency and alleged public-mood due to किसान, जवान और पहलवान issues.
#Lutyens (a.k.a. #DurbariMedia) went gung-ho with such prediction and predicted BJP whitewash in upcoming elections in Maharashtra/Jharkhand as well. They even went to the extent to claim that End of Modi is near.
On Oct 8th, when results it surprised not just Lutyens/Durbari-Media) but even #BJP as well it also didn't expect to come back for 3rd term in such fashion:
No political-party has won #Haryana 3 times in a row, since the inception of the state in 1966. However BJP has done it and with full majority of its own.
As expected, there is disbelief in Lutyens, Durbari-Media & Congress and lot of blame-game started with #EVMs being blamed too:
- Pro-Incumbency Vote as #BJP vote share increased despite being in power. If vote was against BJP (as Congress claims), BJP vote-share would have gone down.
- No impact of किसान, जवान और पहलवान issues, as they were fake issues. People on ground were angry with these issues but they didn't agree with Congress/Lutyens propaganda that BJP to be blamed for these aspects. If there was any truth in these issues, Congress would have gotten 70+ seats which it didn't.
- Congress-Infighting was real and it did damage number of congress official candidates. Hooda tried to defeat Selja's candidates and vice-versa which affected the party in many states
- Negative-Campaign of Congress backfired. Congress tried to whitewash 10 years of BJP rule as nothing and total misrule which people of Haryana didn't accept. In BJP's 10 years, GT-Road highway was completed without any traffic-stop. Delhi-Mumbai Expressway work completed which pass through Haryana. Dwarka Expressway was completed during BJP rule which was pending for decades. In addition, development was seen in Haryana, unlike only in Rohtak/Hisar during Congress/INLD rules. Govt jobs were given on merit without bribes which people appreciated
- Clean-Campaign of BJP and current CM #NayabSinghSaini has worked and they stuck to basics by showcasing BJP govt's good work of last 10 years
- Bogus #EVM outrage decimated as Congress won most of the low-margin seats. Also if EVM manipulation was so easy, why BJP didn't do it in more important J&K elections?
To close this blog, there are key lessons for Congress which it appears to be not learning given debacle after debacle:
- Stop Negative Campaigning against BJP/Modi, it will only work in favour of BJP
- Stop Freebies promises as it won't work every time, Congress state-govts in #HimachalPradesh #Karnataka #Telangana has failed to fulfil freebie-promised and got themselves exposed further
- #RahulGandhi is liability and Congress must find new leaders to take the party forward
- Bring positivity in your campaigns and praise ruling party where due i.e. Dwarka-Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai-Expressway, Jobs etc.
